BOOKS Plus will have been faithfully serving patients, visitors and staff at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for 25 years in June 2024, providing an attractive, encouraging and caring Christian bookshop in this healthcare environment.
BOOKS Plus in Cardiff was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in (i) a delayed relocation from Unit 6 to 8 and (ii) the shop being kept closed for a year longer than all the other traders at the concourse. Therefore during this period the shop could not sell its dated items and of course its book stock aged.
The shop survived this period through use of reserve funds. However, in order to ensure the shop can operate and serve the hospital for the rest of the decade on a sound footing the charity is now fundraising to replenish its reserves. The financial crisis is also resulting in a rent increase of approximately 10% which will need to be funded. You can respond and donate to our appeal in the following ways:
